Senescence: The Compromised Time of Death That Plants May Call on Themselves

While aging is a part of senescence, plants may transition to terminal phase earlier for better fitness outcomes, suggesting complex control mechanisms. Further research is needed to understand processes triggering senescence timing and the genetic/epigenetic mechanisms involved.
