European Association of Urology Guidelines on Non-muscle-invasive Bladder Cancer (Ta, T1, and Carcinoma in Situ)

Marko Babjuk et al.

Summary: The updated EAU guidelines provide new information on the diagnosis and treatment of NMIBC for clinical practice. Individual risk assessment is crucial in determining the appropriate treatment for patients with different risk levels. Surgical intervention, including radical cystectomy, may be necessary for cases unresponsive to BCG treatment or with high risk of progression.

Dynamic Changes of Generic Quality of Life after Different Treatments for Localized Prostate Cancer

Yao-Lin Kao et al.

Summary: This study assessed the dynamic changes of quality of life in patients with localized prostate cancer under different treatment modalities. Factors such as lower household incomes and comorbidities of anxiety or diabetes were found to negatively impact patients' quality of life. Patients under active surveillance or observation demonstrated higher quality of life scores in the physical and social domains compared to those undergoing radical prostatectomy or radiotherapy within the first year.

Pembrolizumab alone or combined with chemotherapy versus chemotherapy as first-line therapy for advanced urothelial carcinoma (KEYNOTE-361): a randomised, open-label, phase 3 trial

Thomas Powles et al.

Summary: The study examined the outcomes of using pembrolizumab alone or combined with chemotherapy as first-line treatment for advanced urothelial carcinoma, and found that the addition of pembrolizumab to platinum-based chemotherapy did not significantly improve efficacy. Safety was assessed and the study concluded that this combination treatment should not be widely adopted for this type of cancer.
