Disease course and obstetric outcomes of pregnancies in juvenile idiopathic arthritis: are there any differences among disease subtypes? A single-centre retrospective study of prospectively followed pregnancies in a dedicated pregnancy clinic

Antia Garcia-Fernandez et al.

Summary: The study focused on disease activity and obstetric outcomes in patients with JIA during pregnancy. Results showed that oligoarticular extended and polyarticular patients are more likely to experience disease flares, especially if they discontinue medications. Preterm delivery occurred in 20% of pregnancies with disease flares during pregnancy.

Anakinra treatment in patients with familial Mediterranean fever: a single-centre experience

Serdal Ugurlu et al.

Summary: Anakinra has been proven effective for colchicine-resistant patients with FMF by reducing attack frequency and subclinical inflammation. The study showed a significant decrease in attack frequency and disease severity in patients receiving anakinra treatment, with 71 patients still on treatment and 32% discontinuing due to insufficient response or side effects.

Case Report: Effective and Safe Treatment With Certolizumab Pegol in Pregnant Patients With Cogan's Syndrome: A Report of Three Pregnancies in Two Patients

Nils Venhoff et al.

Summary: Limited treatment options are available for pregnant patients with Cogan's syndrome due to potential fetal toxicity. Certolizumab pegol is considered safe for pregnant patients with underlying inflammatory diseases, but there is currently a lack of literature on its use in Cogan's syndrome patients, especially during pregnancy.

Biologic agents and small-molecule inhibitors in systemic autoimmune conditions: an update

Diana Prieto-Pena et al.

Summary: The understanding of the pathophysiology of rheumatic diseases has led to the development of biologic disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (bDMARDs) and targeted synthetic DMARDs (tsDMARDs) which have revolutionized the treatment of inflammatory conditions. Different agents are effective for controlling specific rheumatic diseases based on the cytokine involved in the inflammatory process. Concerns with these drugs include a higher risk of infections, the need for blood tests and screening prior to therapy, adherence to immunization programs, and consideration of comorbidities when selecting treatment. Limited data is available on the use of these drugs during pregnancy, but certain treatments appear to be safe. Biosimilars offer a cost-effective option for treating a larger number of patients.
