This study reports an efficient method for the synthesis of chromeno[1,6]naphthyridine derivatives in water using a green solvent under reflux conditions. The method offers advantages such as good yields, short reaction times, and simple work-up procedure.
We report, one-pot, efficient, pseudo four-component condensation of aromatic aldehydes, malononitrile, 2(/)-hydroxyacetophenone derivatives in the presence of a reusable basic ionic liquid, [HO-CH2-CH2-NH3+][HCOO-], as catalyst for the synthesis of chromeno[1,6]naphthyridine derivatives in water as a green solvent at reflux conditions. The method has several advantages such as good yields, short reaction times, and simple work-up procedure.
