Properties of geopolymer mortars derived from ground calcined perlite and NaOH solution

Serhat Celikten et al.

Summary: This study presents the strength development and characterization of geopolymer mortars containing finely ground calcined perlite. The mechanical properties of the mortars improved as the curing period and heat-curing temperatures increase, as well as increasing the concentration of NaOH. The characteristics of the mortars were determined by SEM/EDS and XRD analyses. It is concluded that GCP can be used in geopolymer mortars owing to its abundance and appropriate chemical composition.

Geopolymer Recycled Aggregate Concrete: From Experiments to Empirical Models

Hoai-Bao Le et al.

Summary: This study investigates the use of non-conventional concrete with recycled aggregates and alkali-activated binders. Through analyzing the influence of various factors and evaluating the interfacial transition zone, it also explores the application of empirical models for predicting compressive strength. Results demonstrate the positive behavior of the non-conventional concrete and the relevance of the proposed models.

Control of the setting reaction and strength development of slag-blended volcanic ash-based phosphate geopolymer with the addition of boric acid

Jean Noel Yankwa Djobo et al.

Summary: This study examined the impact of blast furnace slag on volcanic ash-based phosphate geopolymer, finding that the addition of slag and boric acid can accelerate reaction rates and increase compressive strength. However, attention needs to be paid to the competition between boric acid and volcanic ash-slag particles.
