Mechanically tuned vascular graft demonstrates rapid endothelialization and integration into the porcine iliac artery wall

Kaspars Maleckis et al.

Summary: The study aimed to develop an Elastomeric Nanofibrillar Graft (ENG) with artery-tuned compliance and compared its performance to commercial expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE) grafts in a porcine iliac artery model. The mechanically tuned ENG implants exhibited more favorable cellular responses and maintained artery-like mechanical characteristics after two weeks in vivo. These results suggest potential advantages of mechanically tuned biomimetic vascular grafts in terms of healing responses compared to standard ePTFE grafts.

A finite element investigation on design parameters of bare and polymer-covered self-expanding wire braided stents

Ciara G. McKenna et al.

Summary: A computational framework was developed in this study to predict the functional performance of self-expanding wire braided stents, with braid angle identified as a key governing parameter for stent performance. The addition of a polymeric cover was found to cause a stiffer radial response for the wire braided stents.
