Preparation and characterization of new magnetic chitosan-glycine-PEGDE (Fe3O4/Ch-G-P) beads for aqueous Cd(II) removal

Rahmi et al.

Summary: This study developed magnetic chitosan beads for efficient removal of cadmium pollution. The prepared Fe3O4/Chitosan-Glycine-PEGDE (Fe3O4/Ch-G-P) beads exhibited good adsorption performance for Cd2+, following Langmuir isotherm model and pseudo-second-order kinetic model. The addition of PEGDE improved the adsorption capacity of chitosan beads for Cd2+.

Bio-Based Sensors for Smart Food Packaging-Current Applications and Future Trends

Carolina Rodrigues et al.

Summary: Intelligent food packaging utilizes indicators and sensors to monitor food quality and safety, but most current indicators are made of non-renewable and non-biodegradable synthetic materials. Therefore, the development of bio-based sensors using compounds from natural extracts is crucial for improving the sustainability of food packaging.
