Creep crack growth modelling of Grade 91 vessel weldments using a modified ductility based damage model

Raheeg Ragab et al.

Summary: This paper presents a modified ductility-based continuum damage mechanics (CDM) model for creep crack growth modelling of Grade 91 vessel weldments at high temperature. The model requires fewer material constants and accurately predicts the initiation and growth of cracks in the heat-affected zones of the weldments. The model's creep rupture life predictions correlate well with experimental results, demonstrating its potential for life prediction in high temperature structures.

A continuum damage mechanics (CDM) based Wilshire model for creep deformation, damage, and rupture prediction

Jaime A. Cano et al.

Summary: The study introduces a new constitutive model, the WCS model, which combines the Wilshire equations with continuum damage mechanics to accurately predict stress rupture, minimum creep strain rate, creep deformation, and damage of alloy P91. This model successfully eliminates the deficiencies of individual models and shows consistency in parametric simulations.

Stress state dependent creep damage behavior of 9-12% Cr steel notched components

Tian-Ye Niu et al.

Summary: This study elucidates the effects of different stress states on creep damage mechanisms in 9-12%Cr steels under long-term high temperature exposure. Equivalent stress and stress tri-axiality have different impacts on the creep damage behavior of notched components, with the variation of stress states being evidenced by hardness distribution.

Summary: This paper focuses on the creep-damage modeling of a Grade 91 pressurized header to address in-service cracking in the weldments. A multi-axial creep damage model and accelerated creep tests were used to predict crack initiation and estimate creep failure life. The predicted damage distributions and cracking in the header were in good agreement with experimental observations.
