Experimental and density functional theory studies on Cu/Ba-coimpregnated γ-Al2O3 for low-temperature NOx storage and adsorbent regeneration

Hyunwook Kim et al.

Summary: By coimpregnating γ-Al2O3 with Cu and Ba, the NOx storage and adsorbent regeneration at low temperatures were enhanced. Experimental and theoretical results confirmed that the Cu/Ba-coimpregnated adsorbent exhibited superior NOx storage and regeneration compared to traditional Ba-containing LNT adsorbents.

A facile one-step method for the fabrication of Pd-AlOOH/Al monolithic catalysts via redox reactions of two galvanic cells

Fangfang Liu et al.

Summary: A facile and economic one-step method was reported for the fabrication of a three-dimensional upright-standing boehmite nanosheet array film with well-distributed Pd nanoparticles. The redox reactions of two galvanic cells led to the simultaneous formation of Pd nanoparticles and AlOOH nanosheets on the surface of an aluminum substrate, resulting in monolithic catalysts with excellent catalytic activity.

Two-Dimensional Porous Molybdenum Phosphide/Nitride Heterojunction Nanosheets for pH-Universal Hydrogen Evolution Reaction

Ying Gu et al.

Summary: A new strategy for synthesizing 2D porous MoP/Mo2N heterojunction nanosheets with excellent HER activity was presented in this study. The nanosheets exhibit favorable water dissociation kinetics, large accessible surface area, and enhanced mass-transport ability through pores, leading to low overpotentials in alkaline, neutral, and acidic electrolytes. The HER performance of the nanosheets surpasses that of commercial Pt/C in both neutral and alkaline media.

Gas-Phase Catalytic Hydrogenation/Isomerization in the Transformation of 3-Butyn-2-ol over Pd-Ni/Al2O3

Alberto Gonzalez-Fernandez et al.

Summary: The study investigated the continuous gas-phase hydrogenation of 3-butyn-2-ol over different catalysts, with Pd-Ni/Al2O3 demonstrating higher catalytic activity and selectivity, enriched with a palladium surface in the bimetallic Pd-Ni formation. The catalytic response of Pd/Al2O3 and Pd/Al2O3 + Ni/Al2O3 is controlled by the palladium component, while Ni/Al2O3 promotes the hydrogenation of the -C C- group.

Stimulus-Responsive Graphene with Periodical Wrinkles on Grooved Microfiber Arrays: Simulation, Programmable Shape-Shifting, and Catalytic Applications

Xiangyu Meng et al.

Summary: This work presents a simple method for the fabrication of graphene sheets with fast and reversible shape change, multiresponsiveness, and programmable deformation, guided by finite element analysis. By utilizing cellulose acetate microfibers to create grooved microfiber arrays, the graphene sheets are able to generate periodic wrinkles for diverse shape-shifting responses. Through adjusting the orientation of the graphene patterns relative to the microfibers, programmed and omnidirectional shape transformation can be achieved to minimize strain energy and match the dynamic deformation process simulated by FEA.

Coked Ni/Al2O3 from the catalytic reforming of volatiles from co-pyrolysis of lignin and polyethylene: preparation, identification and application as a potential adsorbent

Jing Zhao et al.

Summary: A novel and eco-friendly C-Ni/Al2O3 composite was prepared through catalytic reforming of volatiles from co-pyrolysis of lignin and polyethylene. The composite showed outstanding adsorption performance for pollutant removal from aqueous systems, with potential for the removal of heavy metal ions and hazardous organic compounds. The optimal C-Ni/Al2O3 composite, prepared using Ni/Al2O3 catalyst and suitable catalytic reforming temperature, exhibited excellent adsorption capacity for Pb(ii), Cr(vi), rhodamine B (RhB) and methyl orange (MO).
