Screening for depression in primary care with Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9): A systematic review

Luigi Costantini et al.

Summary: The PHQ-9 has been widely validated and recommended for depression screening in primary care settings in a two-stage process. However, limitations such as the lack of longitudinal studies, small sample sizes, and heterogeneity in primary care environments restrict the generalizability of these results. Longitudinal studies are needed to provide evidence of the long-term effectiveness of screening.

Discrepancies between self-rated depression and observed depression severity: The effects of personality and dysfunctional attitudes

Simeng Ma et al.

Summary: This study identified significant differences between self-reports and clinician ratings of depression in patients, which were related to neuroticism, extraversion, dysfunctional attitudes, and occupation. Future research should further investigate the relationship between these factors and treatment effects, including potential adverse outcomes.
