A Comparison of Serum and Plasma Blood Collection Tubes for the Integration of Epidemiological and Metabolomics Data

Jennie Sotelo-Orozco et al.

Summary: Blood, as a rich biological sample, is routinely collected in clinical and epidemiological studies. Advances in high throughput -omics technology have allowed for deeper exploration of the biological mechanisms involved in disease etiology. However, the impact of the blood collection tube matrix on samples needs to be carefully considered to ensure meaningful biological interpretations.
