Enrichment of the exocytosis protein STX4 in skeletal muscle remediates peripheral insulin resistance and alters mitochondrial dynamics via Drp1

Karla E. Merz et al.

Summary: This study suggests that mitochondrial dysfunction in skeletal muscle is associated with insulin resistance, and enrichment of STX4 in muscle can reverse insulin resistance and improve mitochondrial function. The findings indicate that targeting skeletal muscle STX4 enrichment may be a potential therapeutic strategy for reversing peripheral insulin resistance.
