Psoriasis Susceptibility 1 Candidate 1 (PSORS1C1) Polymorphism is Associated with Autoimmune Thyroid Disease in a Chinese Han Population

Yanfei Jiang et al.

Summary: The study found that the SNP rs3778638 in the PSORS1C1 gene is associated with susceptibility to Graves' disease, but not with Hashimoto's thyroiditis. Additionally, no linkage disequilibrium was observed for the other three SNPs in PSORS1C1 among patients with AITD and controls.

Inclusion of ALKBH5 as a candidate gene for the susceptibility of autoimmune thyroid disease

Rong-Hua Song et al.

Summary: This study investigated the association between ALKBH5 gene polymorphisms and autoimmune thyroid disease (AITD), focusing on the variants rs9913266 and rs12936694 which showed significant differences in AITD and Graves' disease. Moreover, the minor allele of rs9913266 was found to be associated with the risk of female AITD and Hashimoto's thyroiditis development. Additionally, haplotypes CGACA and CAGCG were significantly correlated with susceptibility to AITD and Graves' disease.

METTL3gene polymorphisms contribute to susceptibility to autoimmune thyroid disease

Rong-hua Song et al.

Summary: The study did not find a significant correlation between METTL3 genotypes at seven SNPs and AITD development among both GD and HT patients, except for a borderline association between rs3752411 and GD under certain conditions. Subgroup analysis showed that certain SNPs had higher minor allele frequencies in male AITD patients compared to healthy volunteers, while the genotype distribution of another SNP was significantly different between the groups. Multivariate logistic regression analyses revealed a significant correlation between specific allele frequencies and GD in male patients, indicating a potential role of METTL3 as a candidate gene for AITD treatment.
