Enhanced optical asymmetry in supramolecular chiroplasmonic assemblies with long-range order

Jun Lu et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that the limitations of optical asymmetry in chiral assemblies of plasmonic nanoparticles can be overcome by long-range organization of nanoparticles, similar to liquid crystals. This long-range order in helical assemblies enhances optical asymmetry by reducing scattering and activating energy states with antiparallel orientation of dipoles.

Chiral-induced spin selectivity enables a room-temperature spin light-emitting diode

Young-Hoon Kim et al.

Summary: Traditional optoelectronic approaches rely on both electrical and magnetic fields to control spin, charge, and light, while the use of chiral-induced spin selectivity (CISS) technology allows for the fabrication of a spin-LED that operates at room temperature without the need for magnetic fields or ferromagnetic contacts.

Mechano-tunable chiral metasurfaces via colloidal assembly

Patrick T. Probst et al.

Summary: This study introduces a scalable bottom-up approach to construct cross-stacked nanoparticle chain arrays with a circular dichroism of up to 11 degrees, showing enhanced sensitivity to chiral analytes. The research demonstrates full control over circular dichroism characteristics and opens up a new pathway towards actively controlled pixel arrays through strain-induced reconfiguration. Stacked elastomeric arrays containing plasmonic nanoparticles exhibit efficient chiral responses that can be fully controlled by mechanical compression and stack rotation, showcasing potential as useful modulators for photonic applications.

Nanoscale Bouligand Multilayers: Giant Circular Dichroism of Helical Assemblies of Plasmonic 1D Nano-Objects

Hebing Hu et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that nonchiral 1D nano-objects can be assembled into scalable chiral Bouligand nanostructures with controlled mesoscale anisotropy, achieving very high circular dichroism and giant dissymmetry factors. Through Layer-by-Layer assembly and simple macroscopic tools, the chiroptical properties of the chiral multilayer stack were successfully modeled.

Homochiral metal-organic frameworks for enantioseparation

Juan Liu et al.

Summary: This review delves into the chiral pocket model in homochiral metal-organic frameworks (HMOFs) as a key to understanding enantioselective separation mechanisms. The discussion is classified into two main types of chiral pockets in HMOFs, and recent conceptual advances in the design of HMOFs for high enantioseparation performance are systematically categorized and discussed.
