All topological bands of all nonmagnetic stoichiometric materials

Maia G. Vergniory et al.

Summary: Topological quantum chemistry and symmetry-based indicators have been used to search for materials with topological properties. This study implemented a publicly accessible catalog of stable and fragile topology in all bands at and away from the Fermi energy (E-F) in the Inorganic Crystal Structure Database. The calculations revealed the symmetry-indicated band topology of known nonmagnetic materials and led to the discovery of repeat-topological and supertopological materials.

Achieving superior performance in thermoelectric Bi0.4Sb1.6Te3.72 by enhancing texture and inducing high-density line defects

Junhao Qiu et al.

Summary: This research successfully prepared a robust high-performance p-type Bi0.4Sb1.6Te3.72 bulk alloy with outstanding power factor and induced high-density line defects. The introduced excess Te enhanced the (00l)-oriented texture and led to a net reduction in total thermal conductivity, achieving a superior ZT value and significantly increasing the mechanical compressive stress, which presents an effective strategy for the collaborative optimization of texture, TE performance, and mechanical strength of Bi2Te3-based materials.

Enhanced atomic ordering leads to high thermoelectric performance in AgSbTe2

Subhajit Roychowdhury et al.

Summary: By optimizing atomic disorder and cadmium doping in polycrystalline silver antimony telluride, high thermoelectric performance with near room-temperature figure of merit ZT of around 1.5 and maximum ZT of around 2.6 at 573 kelvin is achieved. This strategy of enhancing cationic ordering while reducing lattice thermal conductivity is applicable to most thermoelectric materials with inherent atomic disorder.

p-Type Plastic Inorganic Thermoelectric Materials

Zhiqiang Gao et al.

Summary: This study reports the first p-type plastic inorganic TE material, which achieved both good plasticity and p-type conduction by alloying Cu in n-type plastic Ag2S0.7Se0.3. The hexagonal structure (Ag0.2Cu0.8)(2)S0.7Se0.3 exhibited a maximum zT of 0.42 at 800 K, and by introducing Cu deficiencies, the maximum zT was greatly enhanced to 0.95 at 800 K, a record-high value for plastic TE materials.
