Atomically Thin Hexagonal Boron Nitride and Its Heterostructures

Jia Zhang et al.

Summary: Atomically thin hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) is a promising 2D material with unique properties for applications in optoelectronics and electronics. Chemical vapor deposition (CVD) is considered a promising method for producing large-scale, high-quality h-BN films and heterostructures. The epitaxial growth of 2D materials onto h-BN and building heterostructures can lead to novel properties.

Boosting the thermal conductivity of CNF-based composites by cross-linked lignin nanoparticle and BN-OH: Dual construction of 3D thermally conductive pathways

Xiu Wang et al.

Summary: An effective approach to fabricate BN-related thermally conductive materials with improved thermal management capacity was demonstrated in this study through a progressive 3D self-assembly strategy. The composite film, particularly BN-LNP50, showed a significant improvement in through-plane thermal conductivity compared to pure CNF film, indicating the potential for enhanced thermal management in microelectronics. Additionally, the role of cross-linking BN-LNP in enhancing thermal conductivity was highlighted, as the composite loaded with non-cross-linked BN/LNP mixture exhibited inferior thermal conductivity performance.

Maleic acid hydrotropic fractionation of wheat straw to facilitate value-added multi-product biorefinery at atmospheric pressure

Chen Su et al.

Summary: Maleic acid hydrotropic fractionation (MAHF) is a selective method for fractionating wheat straw, dissolving lignin and hemicelluloses to produce cellulose-rich solids that can be used for fiber production and enzymatic saccharification. The residual lignin within the solids can be carboxylated through MAHF to aid in bleaching and nanofibrillation processes. MAHF also has the advantage of being FDA-approved as a food additive and less corrosive and more recoverable than other acids traditionally used for cellulosic fractionation.
