Accelerated discovery of single-phase refractory high entropy alloys assisted by machine learning

Yonggang Yan et al.

Summary: This study proposed a strategy to design single-phase refractory high entropy alloys using machine learning algorithms, successfully predicting and synthesizing ten single-phase solid solutions. The experimental results matched well with the prediction results, demonstrating the excellent performance of the machine learning model in predicting single-phase RHEAs.

Short-range ordering and its effects on mechanical properties of high-entropy alloys

Yuan Wu et al.

Summary: This letter summarizes the formation and characterization of short-range orderings (SROs) and their effects on the deformation behavior of high-entropy alloys (HEAs). It shows that tuning the degree of SROs is an effective way for optimizing the mechanical properties of HEAs. The challenges and future research activities regarding the formation mechanism and characterization of SROs in HEAs are also discussed.

Structure prediction in high-entropy alloys with machine learning

D. Q. Zhao et al.

Summary: High-entropy alloy is a concept of alloy design that lacks principal components and has complex compositions and multiple intermediate metastable states. With machine learning, elemental characteristics can be combined with long-term ordering to successfully predict with 87% accuracy, accelerating the discovery of potential compositions.
