Improvement of isothermal oxidation resistance of a γ′-strengthened Co-Al-W-Mo-Ta-B alloy at 800 °C via doping Ce

Fei Zhong et al.

Summary: The isothermal oxidation resistance, oxide scale evolution, and failure mechanism of Ce-doped Co-Al-W-Mo-Ta-B alloy exposed at 800 degrees C were compared. The oxidation kinetics curves of the Ce-doped alloys exhibited a parabolic time dependence on the weight gain, with the weight gain monotonically decreasing with increasing nominal Ce content. The outstanding oxidation resistance of the 0.2Ce alloy was mainly attributed to the formation of a continuous and protective Al2O3 layer with a shorter incubation stage.

Corrosion behaviour of NiCrFeAl-hBN seal coatings in oxidation environments at a high temperature

Su-Yuan Yang et al.

Summary: The investigation evaluated the high-temperature oxidation behavior, microstructure, and hardness of a seal coating under controlled exposures at different exposure times. The results indicated a change in the main phases in the coating with increasing exposure time, along with an increase in hardness with increasing oxide percentage.

Bimodal grain structures and tensile properties of a biomedical Co-20Cr-15W-10Ni alloy with different pre-strains

Cheng-Lin Li et al.

Summary: The influence of pre-strain on the bimodal grain structures and tensile properties of a Co-20Cr-15W-10Ni alloy was investigated. High pre-strain intensifies plasticity heterogeneity, while high-temperature annealing increases the size and volume fraction of coarse grains. Tensile properties strongly depend on the size ratio and volume fraction of fine grains/coarse grains in addition to the average grain size in the bimodal grain structures.

Characteristics of oxide pegs in Ti- and Y-doped CoNiCrAl alloys at 1150 °C

Liang Yang et al.

Summary: The study investigates the impact of doping two reactive elements (Y and Ti) in an alloy on the formation and growth of oxide pegs. It is found that the amount of Y determines the density of oxide pegs, Ti does not form a Ti-rich oxide core, and with increased Ti content, the oxide pegs grow along the beta-phase boundary and into the alloy.

Accurate Viscosity Prediction for Molten Slags: A New Model and Database

Rui Zhang et al.

Summary: A new structurally-based viscosity model and database are introduced for accurately predicting the viscosity of multicomponent molten slags, achieving highly reliable calculation results for industrial and geological applications. The model is based on the CALPHAD approach and thermodynamic model, and has shown to give minimal deviations to measurements compared to previous work.

Recent advances on environmental corrosion behavior and mechanism of high-entropy alloys

Yu Fu et al.

Summary: High-entropy alloys (HEAs) have emerged as a research hotspot in the field of metal materials in the past decade. They exhibit much better corrosion resistance than traditional corrosion-resistant metal materials and the correlation among composition, microstructure, and corrosion resistance of HEAs has been revealed. The influence of heat treatment, anodizing treatment, and preparation methods on the corrosion behavior of HEAs has also been elaborated.
