Fabrication and Spectral Characteristics of Silicon Nanowires for Efficient Solar Energy Harvesting

Mohammad Kamal Hossain et al.

Summary: This study investigates the use of silicon nanowires as nanometric absorbers in solar cells. A simple and hands-on strategy was developed to grow Si-NWs on silicon wafers, demonstrating potential for enhanced light trapping. Experimental and simulation results show differences in exciton generation rates for Si-NWs of different diameters at 700 and 1100 nm wavelengths, contributing to improved efficiency in light trapping techniques.

Fabrication and Characterization of Inverted Silicon Pyramidal Arrays with Randomly Distributed Nanoholes

Yue Zhao et al.

Summary: This study presents the fabrication, electromagnetic simulation, and measurement of inverted silicon pyramidal arrays with randomly distributed nanoholes acting as an anti-reflectivity coating. Numerical and experimental results demonstrate that this structure enables multiple reflection and absorption of photons, resulting in significantly lower reflectance compared to silicon wafers and pyramids.
