This study aims to determine the matter radius and skin thickness of He-6 and He-8 by using experimental data and a folding model. The results are consistent with previous studies and reveal the distance between 4 He nuclei and the center of mass of valence electrons in He-8.
Background: For He-4,He-6,He-8, Tanihata et al. determined matter radii r(m)(sigma(I)) = 1.57(4),2.48(3),2.52(3) fm from interaction cross sections sigma(I) for He-4,He-6,He-8 scattering on Be, C Al targets at 790 MeV/nucleon. Lu et al. measured the atomic isotope shifts (AIS) for He-4,He-6,He-8 and determined proton radii r(p) (AIS) for He-4,He-6,He-8. As for p+He-4,(6,)8 scattering, reaction cross sections sigma(R) (exp) are available at 700 MeV with high accuracy. Aim: Our aim is to determine matter radii r(m) and skins r(skin), for He-6,He-8 from the sigma(R) (exp) and the r(p)(AIS). Method: Our model is the Love-Franey t-matrix folding model, since the model is better than the optical limit of Glauber model. Results: Our results for He-68 are r(m)(exp)= 2.48(3),2.53(2) fm and r(skin) = 0.78(3), 0.82(2) fm. Conclusion: For He-6,He-8, our results r(m)(sigma(R)) agree with those of Tanihata et al.. For(8)He, the distance between4 He and the center of mass of valence four neutrons is 2.367 fm.
