Cordycepin: a bioactive metabolite of Cordyceps militaris and polyadenylation inhibitor with therapeutic potential against COVID-19

Akalesh Kumar Verma

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the therapeutic potential of cordycepin as a conventional treatment strategy against COVID-19. Through computational methods, the study assessed the binding affinity of cordycepin with SARS-CoV-2 target proteins and utilized network pharmacology to understand their interactions in the human body. The results showed that cordycepin has the potential to inhibit viral replication and multiplication, and it exhibited strong binding affinity with SARS-CoV-2 spike protein and main proteases.

Molecular mechanisms of cordycepin emphasizing its potential against neuroinflammation: An update

Anusha Govindula et al.

Summary: Recent research highlights the central role of neuroinflammation in complex neurological disorders, emphasizing the importance of reducing neuroinflammation in managing CNS disorders. Natural bioactive compound cordycepin shows potential as a new remedy against neuroinflammation-associated CNS disorders, with anti-inflammatory, anti-depressant, and anti-Alzheimer's properties. Cordycepin targets various inflammatory markers and toll-like receptor activation, providing evidence for its anti-neuroinflammatory mechanisms.

Potential Nutrients from Natural and Synthetic Sources Targeting Inflammaging-A Review of Literature, Clinical Data and Patents

Sushruta Koppula et al.

Summary: Inflammaging, a characteristic of aging, contributes to the development of age-related disorders and is considered a key underlying cause of high mortality and morbidity rates associated with such disorders. While studies have detailed the underlying mechanisms of inflammaging, more research is needed to explore the potential benefits of nutrients in modulating or delaying this process. Additionally, clinical trials and patent claims on potential nutrients demonstrating therapeutic benefits in controlling inflammaging and inflammation-related disorders were discussed.
