Summary: Most school-aged children in the UK with SARS-CoV-2 infection are asymptomatic or experience mild illness, with longer duration and higher symptom burden observed in older children. Addressing Racial and Ethnic Disparities in COVID-19 Among School-Aged Children: Are We Doing Enough?

Arica White et al.

Summary: The disproportionate impact of COVID-19 on Hispanic, non-Hispanic Black, and non-Hispanic American Indian/Alaska Native children and teenagers requires community-based collaborations to reduce disparities. Children from some racial and ethnic minority groups have higher prevalence of obesity, asthma, diabetes, and hypertension, as well as more frequent COVID-19 diagnoses and severe outcomes compared to non-Hispanic White counterparts. With complex root causes, organized community-based approaches are needed to achieve greater health equity and address these disparities.
