Texture property and weakening mechanism of Mg-3Al-1Zn alloy by interactive alternating forward extrusion

Ye Wang et al.

Summary: The interactive alternating forward extrusion (AFE) method can change the texture type and weaken the texture strength. The texture evolution of interactive AFE was studied using AZ31 magnesium alloy as an example. The results show that various dynamic recrystallization behaviors can weaken the texture to different degrees, with twinning-induced recrystallization having a particularly significant effect. The formation of a stable fiber texture was observed during the AFE process.

Hot tensile deformation behavior of extruded LAZ532 alloy with heterostructure

Xiaoqiang Li et al.

Summary: The hot tensile test was performed on an extruded Mg-5Li-3Al-2Zn (LAZ532) alloy with a heterostructure of fibrous extrusion zones (FEZs) and nonfibrous extrusion zones (non-FEZs) coexisted, showing that the alloy exhibited superplastic characteristics at lower strain rates or higher deformation temperatures. The microstructure analysis revealed different deformation behaviors between the FEZs and non-FEZs, with different mechanisms dominating during different stages of deformation. The activation energy was calculated to be around 110.0 kJ/mol, and the hot tensile deformation mechanism involved alternating and coordinated deformation among grain boundary slip, intragranular slip, and dynamic recrystallization (DRX).

Effect of Sn addition on the deformation behavior and microstructural evolution of Mg-Gd-Y-Zr alloy during hot compression

Qian Zhang et al.

Summary: The addition of Sn in Mg-Gd-Y-Sn-Zr alloys promotes dynamic precipitation, dynamic recrystallization, and inhibits the formation of high-angle grain boundaries. At different temperature and strain rate conditions, there is a competitive relationship between dynamic recrystallization and flow stress reduction.

Twinning and dynamic recrystallization of Mg-7Sn-3Zn alloy under high strain rate hot compression

Bin-Jiang Lv et al.

Summary: This study investigates the twinning behavior and dynamic recrystallization (DRX) of Mg-7Sn-3Zn alloy under high strain rate conditions. The results show that certain twinning mechanisms occur at different temperatures, influenced by factors such as Schmid factor and geometric compatibility. Additionally, the recrystallization process is significantly improved at higher temperatures, likely due to enhanced grain boundary migration and nucleation rate.

Dynamic precipitation and recrystallization mechanism during hot compression of Mg-Gd-Y-Zr alloy

Qian Zhang et al.

Summary: In this study, the microstructure evolution and dynamic recrystallization mechanism of Mg-Gd-Y-Zr alloy under different deformation conditions were analyzed in detail. It was found that dynamic precipitation occurs prior to dynamic recrystallization, and large-size hard phase particles can induce dynamic recrystallization under high strain conditions, promoting grain refinement.
