Development of high strength Mg/Al bimetal by a novel ultrasonic vibration aided compound casting process

Feng Guan et al.

Summary: Ultrasonic vibration can refine the microstructure of the Mg/Al bimetal interface, dispersing Mg2Si and Al12Mg17 phases uniformly and eliminating oxidation inclusion defects, thereby increasing the microhardness and shear strength of the entire interface.
