Source noise suppression in attosecond transient absorption spectroscopy by edge-pixel referencing

Romain Geneaux et al.

Summary: This study proposes edge-pixel referencing as a method to suppress noise in ATAS technique, demonstrating two approaches that effectively control noise and increase sensitivity by fivefold. The combination of these two methods ensures the accuracy of the procedure and can be applied to real-time data collection and existing datasets.

Characterization of the Percival detector with soft X-rays

Alessandro Marras et al.

Summary: This paper presents the back-side-illuminated Percival 2-Megapixel (P2M) detector and characterizes it using optical and X-ray photons. The response of the system to soft X-rays is shown for the first time, and the main performance parameters of the first detector are measured. The capabilities in terms of noise, dynamic range, and single-photon discrimination capability are assessed, with discussions on current limitations and upcoming improvements.

Towards soft x-ray fluorescence measurements in the laboratory using a laser-produced plasma source and a complementary metal-oxide semiconductor detector

S. Staeck et al.

Summary: The commercially available CMOS technology has opened up new possibilities for experiments requiring energy discrimination capabilities in the soft X-ray range. Compared to SDDs and CCDs, CMOS detectors offer higher energy resolution and faster frame rates, making them an efficient and cost-effective alternative for experiments with pulsed sources.

Element-Specific Magnetization Dynamics in Co-Pt Alloys Induced by Strong Optical Excitation

Igor Vaskivskyi et al.

Summary: The study investigates the element-specific dynamics of Co-Pt alloys on femtosecond and picosecond time scales, revealing different responses of the two sublattices in the alloy to optical excitation and distinct demagnetization rates. It is important to consider the modification of magnetic anisotropy in opto-magnetic experiments to avoid experimental artifacts.
