Missing Self?Induced Microvascular Rejection of Kidney Allografts: A Population-Based Study

Jasper Callemeyn et al.

Summary: This study found that missing self increases the risk of microvascular inflammation after kidney transplantation, especially when multiple types of missing self occur simultaneously, independent of HLA-DSA. Systematic evaluation of missing self may improve understanding of HLA-DSA-negative MVI and could be relevant for improved diagnostic classification and patient risk stratification.

Allograft recognition by recipient's natural killer cells: Molecular mechanisms and role in transplant rejection

Sarah Hamada et al.

Summary: The conventional belief is that organ rejection is initiated by the recipient's immune system, but recent research suggests that recipient's NK cells can also recognize allografts through a unique pathway, potentially impacting graft survival.
