Seed-Mediated Synthesis of Gold Nanorods at Low Concentrations of CTAB

Ming-Zhang Wei et al.

Summary: This study successfully synthesized gold nanorods with tunable size and aspect ratio, high monodispersity, and high purity by using the seed-mediated method and very low concentrations of CTAB. The growth conditions were optimized to achieve these results, and the method may be extended to synthesize other nanomaterials at such low CTAB concentrations.

Simple Determination of Gold Nanocrystal Dimensions by Analytical Ultracentrifugation via Surface Ligand-Solvent Density Matching

Guillermo Gonzalez-Rubio et al.

Summary: Analytical ultracentrifugation (AUC) is a powerful technique for observing colloidal nanocrystals (NCs) in solution and obtaining critical information about their physical-chemical properties. This study proposes a new method to determine the size of NCs without the need for a priori knowledge, by using surface ligands (SLs) with a density equal to that of the solvent. The method is simple and reliable, with potential applications to various types of crystalline and non-crystalline colloids.
