Prediction of arsenic removal in aqueous solutions with non-neural network algorithms

Noor Hafsa et al.

Summary: The study found that support vector regression (SVR) and random forest (RF) methods exhibited high accuracy in predicting arsenic removal efficiency. Compared to artificial neural network (ANN) methodology, these non-NN approaches involved tuning fewer hyperparameters and simpler training processes. Experimental results showed that pH, adsorbent dose, temperature, agitation time, and initial As concentration were the most influential parameters affecting removal efficiency.

Pre-deposited dynamic membrane adsorber formed of microscale conventional iron oxide-based adsorbents to remove arsenic from water: application study and mathematical modeling

Muhammad Usman et al.

Summary: The study developed a dynamic membrane adsorber for arsenate remediation by pre-depositing iron oxide-based adsorptive material on a microfiltration membrane. The removal efficiency of As(V) depended on physicochemical properties of the depositing material. Mathematical modeling accurately described As(V) removal rates over a range of conditions, and operating the adsorber at lower water flux and with more depositing material prolonged filtration times with low As(V) permeate concentration.

Summary: This study investigated the adsorption of copper ions from aqueous solution using orthophosphoric acid-modified biochar derived from coconut husk. By optimizing process parameters and utilizing an artificial neural network model, efficient removal of copper ions was achieved. The results suggest that coconut husk can be a low-cost precursor for developing an economical adsorbent for pollutants removal.
