Motor Current Signature Analysis-based Non-invasive Recognition of Mixed Eccentricity Fault in Line Start Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor

Mahdi Karami et al.

Summary: This study proposes a cost-effective and non-invasive detection strategy for three-phase line start permanent magnet synchronous motor under mixed eccentricity fault using motor current signature analysis. The research focuses on the theory of air gap magnetic field in eccentric LSPMSM and examines the detection strategy through modeling and experimental studies. Results indicate that amplitudes of fault-related components at rotor frequency are precise for early detection of mixed eccentricity in LSPMSM.

Virtual Reality-Based Training: Case Study in Mechatronics

Dorota Kaminska et al.

Summary: This paper introduces, explains and illustrates the real-life application of a virtual training tool for electrical engineering education. The tool allows users to interact with and manipulate 3D models of authentic devices, compare structural differences between devices, assemble and disassemble machines, and test them under extreme conditions. The 3D devices are fully operational, enabling users to analyze the impact of supply conditions by modifying voltage and frequency of motors and monitoring performance changes while still operating. The main goal of the research was to evaluate the effectiveness and educational values of the proposed tool. Early studies and feedback from educators and students prove this tool to be a great assistance to the educational process, facilitating knowledge acquisition and providing an innovative way to put theory into practice.
