Strong coupling and pressure engineering in WSe2-MoSe2heterobilayers

Juan Xia et al.

Summary: This study achieves high-quality 2H-stacked WSe2-MoSe(2) heterostructures through a two-step chemical vapor deposition method, demonstrating effective tuning of interlayer interactions by hydrostatic pressure. The research reveals strong coupling nature and pressure-induced evolution of interlayer excitons, providing new opportunities for exploring and tuning van der Waals heterostructures with strong interlayer coupling.

Effects of Moisture-Proof Back Passivation Layers of Al2O3 and AlxTi1-xOy Films on Efficiency Improvement and Color Modulation in Transparent a-Si:H Solar Cells

Jieun Kim et al.

Summary: This study developed back passivation layers (BPLs) to protect hydrogenated amorphous silicon thin films of transparent solar cells, and evaluated the performance of Al2O3 films with different thicknesses and fixed thickness ATO films. The results showed that BPLs can effectively prevent moisture and improve cell performance through optical interference effects. The solar cell efficiency was increased by over 12% with ATO BPLs, and various cell colors were achieved without significant loss in efficiency by modulating the reflection and transmission spectra with different refractive index and thickness of BPLs.

Highly sensitive active pixel image sensor array driven by large-area bilayer MoS2 transistor circuitry

Seongin Hong et al.

Summary: Various large-area growth methods have been developed for two-dimensional transition metal dichalcogenides, but have not been used for synthesizing active pixel image sensors. An active pixel image sensor array with bilayer MoS2 film was successfully prepared and exhibited high photoresponsivity. The main mechanism for the high photoresponsivity of bilayer MoS2 phototransistors is attributed to a photo-gating effect by holes trapped at subgap states.

Layered Semiconducting 2D Materials for Future Transistor Applications

Sheng-Kai Su et al.

Summary: As transistor size shrinks, the corresponding reduction in channel thickness is necessary to ensure sufficient gate control for turning off the transistor. Two-dimensional layered materials, with their atomically thin and smooth layers while maintaining high carrier mobility, present a unique opportunity for future transistors. To benefit from continuous scaling, the performance of scaled 2D transistors needs to surpass current Si technology.
