Localization of lattice dynamics in low-angle twisted bilayer graphene

Andreij C. Gadelha et al.

Summary: The twisted bilayer graphene undergoes self-organized lattice reconstruction, resulting in the formation of a superlattice that modulates vibrational and electronic structures, leading to phenomena such as strong correlations and superconductivity. Although experimental techniques and theoretical models face challenges in observing and describing these effects, nano-Raman spectroscopy can localize some vibrational modes and provide insights into the effects of electron-phonon coupling on the material properties.

The limits of near field immersion microwave microscopy evaluated by imaging bilayer graphene moire patterns

Douglas A. A. Ohlberg et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates the resolution of nanoscale structures using near field scanning Microwave Impedance Microscopy, by controlling the dynamics of water meniscus to concentrate the electromagnetic fields. Twisted bilayer graphene is used as the test material, allowing systematic tuning of the moire superstructure pattern modulation at different scales.

Electronic localization in small-angle twisted bilayer graphene

V. Hung Nguyen et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates that small-angle twisted bilayer graphene systems exhibit significant electron localization, but for twist angles below 1.1 degrees, the contribution of the local AA regions is progressively reduced, thus preventing the emergence of further magic angles.

Twisted Bilayer Graphene: A Versatile Fabrication Method and the Detection of Variable Nanometric Strain Caused by Twist-Angle Disorder

Andreij C. Gadelha et al.

Summary: This paper presents a pyramid trunk stamp that enables versatile and easy fabrication of twisted heterostructures without the aid of boron nitride crystals. The semipyramidal stamp allows good visualization of 2D materials, easy alignments, and transfer of 2D materials between different substrates, and it can be reused for many fabrications. The method is demonstrated for producing twisted bilayer graphene (TBG) and investigated using nano-Raman hyperspectral imaging to characterize regions of TBG under twist-angle disorder, strain, or doping.
