Accelerating polarization structures in vectorial fields

Keshaan Singh et al.

Summary: Researchers have successfully generated optical fields with polarization structures and acceleration independent of spatial profile. By combining accelerated intensity transport with orthogonal polarization states, they produced a vector beam displaying optical activity. By tailoring the generating basis, acceleration or deceleration of Stokes vector can be achieved along with observing optical current between local positions in the field.

Metasurface optics for on-demand polarization transformations along the optical path

Ahmed H. Dorrah et al.

Summary: By using metasurfaces to independently shape the polarization state of a light beam at each point in space along its propagation direction, longitudinally variable polarization optical components are demonstrated; a new class of polarizers and wave plates based on metasurfaces can impart an arbitrarily chosen polarization response along the propagation direction, regardless of the incident polarization; this approach allows for the desired propagation-dependent polarization response to be enacted without prior knowledge of the incident polarization, expanding the use of polarization in the design of multifunctional metasurfaces.

Arbitrary complex retarders using a sequence of spatial light modulators as the basis for adaptive polarisation compensation

Qi Hu et al.

Summary: Theoretical analysis demonstrates how a sequence of spatial light modulators can compensate for polarization and phase errors introduced by a spatially variant homogeneous waveplate. Analytic solutions for the required SLM settings are obtained through the construction of a geometrical model on the Poincare sphere, validated against numerical models. This approach can be used to control a multi-pass SLM system in an efficient vectorial adaptive optics system.

Structured light

Andrew Forbes et al.

Summary: Recent efforts have focused on controlling the structure of light in all its degrees of freedom and dimensions, pushing the limits of structured light and expanding its potential. Beyond traditional orbital angular momentum, two-dimensional fields, qubits and biphotons, and linear optical manipulation.

Dynamically measuring the holo-information of light fields in three-dimensional space using a periodic polarization-structured light

ShuXia Qi et al.

Summary: This study introduces a method for dynamically measuring holographic information of light fields using periodic polarization-structured light, with a measurement system composed of a Mach-Zender interferometer involving a liquid crystal polarized grating in the reference arm. The accuracy, 3D polarimetry, and dynamic observation capabilities of this method were validated through experiments involving various types of light fields.
