Photothermal-Irradiated Polyethyleneimine-Polypyrrole Nanopigment Film-Coated Polyethylene Fabrics for Infrared-Inspired with Pathogenic Evaluation

Yu-Cheng Hsiao et al.

Summary: In cold environments, respiratory infections such as influenza and pneumonia are more prevalent, while the electrostatic function of current face mask fabric diminishes when exposed to water, reducing its filtering efficacy. Therefore, there is a growing demand for photothermal fabrics with the ability to retain heat and convert light into thermal energy.

Establishment of a reliable scheme for obtaining highly stable SERS signal of biological serum

Hongmei Li et al.

Summary: SERS technology, combining serum SERS spectrum analysis and multivariate statistical algorithms, is widely used in disease screening and diagnosis. Experimental results show that high reproducibility and stability of SERS spectrum can only be achieved when serum is diluted to low concentration. By using high-performance gold nanoparticles as the active substrate of SERS, a test scheme for obtaining highly stable serum SERS spectra was established.

Facet-dependent gold nanocrystals for effective photothermal killing of bacteria

Sibidou Yougbare et al.

Summary: Gold-based plasmonic nanocrystals, specifically gold nanobipyramids with (111) plane, showed higher photothermal performance compared to gold nanorods with (200) plane in noninvasive photothermal therapy, as demonstrated by experimental studies and density function theory (DFT) simulations. Water desorption energy on the Au(111) surface was found to be lower than on the Au(100) surface, indicating easier desorption for photothermal heating. Additionally, AuNBPs with (111) plane exhibited higher efficiency in photothermal therapy against Escherichia coli (E. coli) under near-infrared (NIR) laser irradiation compared to AuNRs.
