Hierarchical Architectured Dahlia Flower-Like NiCo2O4/NiCoSe2 as a Bifunctional Electrode for High-Energy Supercapacitor and Methanol Fuel Cell Application

Arthi Gopalakrishnan et al.

Summary: The unique hierarchical dahlia flower-like NiCo2O4 nanograss/NiCoSe2 nanosheets on Ni foam (NCO/NCS/NF) exhibit superior specific capacitance as a supercapacitor electrode and impressive specific energy in a hybrid device. The electrode also shows high current density and low onset potential as an electrocatalyst for methanol oxidation, making it a promising material for energy storage and conversion technologies.

Framework-Derived Tungsten Single-Atom Catalyst for Oxygen Reduction Reaction

Bizhi Jiang et al.

Summary: The synthesized W single-atom catalyst (W-N-C) obtained from ZIF-8 shows excellent activity for the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR), with a half-wave potential of 0.86 V and negligible current decay over a long-term durability test. This surpasses many nonprecious metals and even commercial Pt/C catalysts in terms of performance.

Synthesis of Highly Active Pd@Cu-Pt/C Methanol Oxidation Electrocatalysts via Continuous, Co-Electroless Deposition

Gregory L. Tate et al.

Summary: Controlled deposition of metals is crucial for the creation of bimetallic catalysts with predictable composition. Continuous co-electroless deposition allows for the creation of bimetallic catalysts with control over composition, as demonstrated in the study on Cu-Pt mixed-metal shell catalysts for methanol electrooxidation. The ability to control the composition of bimetallic shells can be extended to other systems where the ratio of two metals is critical for catalytic performance.

Dicyanamide Anion-Based Ionic Liquid-Functionalized Graphene-Supported Pt Catalysts for Boosting Methanol Electrooxidation

Ruiying Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, a novel Pt catalyst was synthesized with the significant improvement of methanol oxidation performance by adding ionic liquids (ILs), which enhanced activity and stability. The results indicate that ILs have promising prospects in the application of direct methanol fuel cells (DMFCs).
