Effect of WC mass fraction on the microstructure and friction properties of WC/Ni60 laser cladding layer of brake discs

Wanyang Li et al.

Summary: The study investigated the laser cladding Ni-based composite coating on QT500-7, showing that with the increase of WC mass fraction, the types of cladding layer gradually enriched, producing various W-containing carbides, leading to significantly improved hardness, corrosion resistance, and tribological properties.

Creep behaviour of WC-12 wt% Co hardmetals with different WC grain sizes tested in uniaxial tensile and compression step-loading tests at 700 °C and 800 °C

Kathrin Maier et al.

Summary: This study investigates the influence of WC grain size on the creep behavior of WC-Co hardmetals, revealing differences in creep behavior among hardmetal grades with different grain sizes under high temperature conditions. The medium-grained hardmetal grade exhibited the highest minimal creep rates at low stresses, suggesting a potential advantage in creep resistance compared to finer-grained grades.

Thermoelectric properties of BiSbTe-type alloys prepared by chill-casting and cryo-milling

Olu Emmanuel Femi et al.

Summary: In this study, cryo-milling was used to process BixSb1-xTe3, leading to changes in transport behavior and improvements in ZT due to excess tellurium. While the Seebeck coefficient remained unchanged, the thermal conductivity was affected, reflecting the complexity of the unique properties of these materials.

Size-Dependent Electrical Transport Properties in Conducting Diamond Nanostripes

Andrew F. Zhou et al.

Summary: With advancements in nanofabrication technology, nitrogen-doped ultrananocrystalline diamond nanostripes with widths in the order of tens of nanometers have been successfully fabricated. The study focused on the size-dependent electron transport properties of these nanostructures, showing a dramatic increase in electrical resistivity as the width of the nanostripes decreases. The variability in conductivity is attributed to diffusive scattering on the nanostripe surfaces and grain boundary scattering.
