Multimode determination of uric acid based on porphyrinic MOFs thin films by electrochemical and photoelectrochemical methods

Xin Xu et al.

Summary: Uric acid is a significant biological substance related to various disorders. Developing a rapid, easy-to-use, cost-effective, and instrument-free biosensor for uric acid determination remains a great challenge. In this study, an electrochemical and photoelectrochemical sensor based on metal organic frameworks was fabricated for the quantitative determination of uric acid.

Facile and recyclable dopamine sensing by a label-free terbium(III) metal-organic framework

Ke-Yang Wu et al.

Summary: A straightforward strategy using a water-stable MOF for dopamine sensing without post-modification is presented, achieving a detection limit of 0.41 μM. The process involves dopamine polymerization to polydopamine on the MOF surface, leading to complete quenching of its green luminescence. The sensing process is visible under UV light and unaffected by the presence of various organic substances or metal ions, demonstrating adaptability in biological fluids.

Continuous singlet oxygen generation for persistent chemiluminescence in Cu-MOFs-based catalytic system

Chang Ping Yang et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the development of Cu-metal-organic frameworks as catalysts for persistent chemiluminescence in the luminol-H2O2 system. The mechanism involves the gradual generation of OH, O-2(center dot-), and O-1(2) leading to prolonged emission. The research provides insights for the development of new persistent CL catalysts.

Zr-MOFs loaded on polyurethane foam by polydopamine for enhanced dye adsorption

Jingjing Zhao et al.

Summary: In this study, PDA/Zr-MOFs/PU foam was synthesized for dye removal from wastewater. The polydopamine coating improved the dispersion of Zr-MOFs nanoparticles and enhanced their interaction with the PU foam substrate. The prepared foam showed higher adsorption capacity and efficiency for crystal violet and rhodamine B, and maintained stability and reusability after multiple cycles.

Enhancing visible-light-activity of Ti-based MOFs based on extending the conjugated degree of organic ligands and photocatalytic degradation process and mechanism in real industrial textile wastewaters

Ximing Guo et al.

Summary: By extending the conjugated degree of organic ligands in Ti-based MOFs, a novel strategy was developed to improve the visible light absorption of Ti-TiTCPP MOFs, resulting in superior photocatalytic degradation performances compared to NH2-MIL-125(Ti) MOFs. The photocatalytic degradation mechanism of Ti-TiTCPP MOFs was investigated in detail, analyzing the possible electrochemical and photoelectrochemical reactions, as well as changes in Gibbs free energy. The degradation pathways of RhB and emerging intermediate contaminants were carefully analyzed using HPLC-HRMS.
