Thermal and Structural Properties of High Density Polyethylene/Carbon Nanotube Nanocomposites: A Comparison Study

Summary: The study investigated the effects of functionalization of carbon nanotubes on the properties of HDPE/CNT nanocomposite sheets. Functionalized CNTs, both oxidized and amide, showed enhanced thermal stability of the polymer, with the best enhancement seen in oxidized multi-walled carbon nanotubes. The addition of CNTs led to a decrease in crystallinity of the polymer, with the most significant decrease observed with the addition of oxidized single-walled carbon nanotubes.

Polymer composite materials: A comprehensive review

Summary: In this review, advanced composite materials based on thermoplastic polymers, elastomer polymers, and thermosetting polymers were comprehensively developed and investigated, with a focus on the synthesis of various macromolecular matrices. These composite materials exhibited excellent mechanical performances, high thermal resistance, good fire behavior, high impact resistance, best abrasion resistance, exceptional electric insulation, and good rigidity, making them a promising material for various applications. Additionally, detailed examination and discussion of composite materials formulation were provided in this review.
