Defective ZnOx@porous carbon nanofiber network inducing dendrite-free zinc plating as zinc metal anode for high-performance aqueous rechargeable Zn/Na4Mn9O18 battery based on hybrid electrolyte

Yanli Song et al.

Summary: A defective ZnOx dispersed porous carbon nanofibers (ZnOx@PCNF) was designed as the main body of zinc metal anode, effectively solving the issues of dendrite formation and side reactions in ARBs. Utilizing this ZnOx@PCNF/Zn system, high reversibility and dendrite-free performance were achieved, showing excellent electrochemical properties in the Zn-NMO system for ARBs.

A 3D hierarchically porous nanoscale ZnO anode for high-energy rechargeable zinc-air batteries

Daniel Deckenbach et al.

Summary: Researchers have developed a new porous carbon matrix with finely dispersed ZnO nanoparticles as an anode material to improve the zinc stability in zinc-air batteries, showing that the charging time affects the discharge capacity while the coulombic efficiency is minimally affected. At lower current densities, a high mean discharge capacity of 207 mAh/g is achieved, while higher current densities facilitate a comparable high overall coulombic efficiency of 83%.

Synthesis and Characterization of ZnO from Thermal Decomposition of Precipitated Zinc Oxalate Dihydrate as an Anode Material of Li-Ion Batteries

Cornelius Satria Yudha et al.

Summary: In this research, ZnO was synthesized by thermal decomposition of zinc oxalate dihydrate, and different heating temperatures were studied for their effect on ZnO synthesis. The optimal sintering temperature to obtain ZnO was found to be 600 degrees C. ZnO can be used as an anode material and an additive to improve the electrochemical performance of commercial graphite anodes.

Review of ZnO Binary and Ternary Composite Anodes for Lithium-Ion Batteries

Vu Khac Hoang Bui et al.

Summary: Composite anodes of zinc oxide (ZnO) with other metal oxides (MOs) and carbon-based materials exhibit higher specific capacity, rate performance, and cycling stability compared to single ZnO anode. The synergistic effects between ZnO and the other MOs or carbon-based materials can explain the superior electrochemical characteristics of these ZnO-based composites. This review also discusses some of their current limitations.

A near infrared fluorescence imprinted sensor based on zinc oxide nanorods for rapid determination of ketoprofen

Shan Chen et al.

Summary: A novel near infrared fluorescence imprinted sensor was successfully prepared for rapid recognition of ketoprofen, based on polyethyleneimine passivated copper-doped CdS quantum dots and zinc oxide nanorods. The sensor showed improved fluorescence lifetime and stability, enhanced response speed and sensitivity towards ketoprofen, and could rapidly recognize ketoprofen in complex samples with high recoveries. The fluorescence response mechanism of the sensor was attributed to electron transfer, providing a reliable method for selective drug recognition.
