Effects of relocation on immunological and physiological measures in female squirrel monkeys (Saimiri boliviensis boliviensis)

Pramod N. Nehete et al.

Summary: This study quantified the effects of transport, relocation, and acclimation to new surroundings on female squirrel monkeys by analyzing blood samples. Significant changes were observed in T cells, NK cells, B cells, and cytokine levels during different time points of the relocation process. This data could help determine the optimal time for using newly arrived animals in research studies.

Innate immunity stimulation via CpG oligodeoxynucleotides ameliorates Alzheimer's disease pathology in aged squirrel monkeys

Akash G. Patel et al.

Summary: Alzheimer's disease is the most common cause of dementia and lacks disease-modifying therapy. Dysregulation of innate immunity and microglia/macrophages plays a key role in Alzheimer's disease pathogenesis. Modulating Toll-like receptors (TLRs) can affect the phenotypic status of microglia and impact Alzheimer's disease progression.
