Can categorised values of maximal oxygen uptake discriminate patterns of exercise dysfunction in pectus excavatum: a prospective cohort study?

Christopher M. R. Satur et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates that patients with pectus excavatum exhibit various compromised physiological characteristics related to exercise function. It is the first study to define distinct patterns of exercise dysfunction and suggests that symptomatic pectus excavatum patients may benefit from surgical treatment.

Comparison of physical functions and psychosocial conditions between adolescents with pectus excavatum, pectus carinatum and healthy controls

Nuray Alaca et al.

Summary: The study compared the physical and psychosocial conditions of adolescents with pectus excavatum (PE) and pectus carinatum (PC) to healthy controls (HC). Results showed differences in body weight, posture, physical functions, and psychosocial health between the groups. Adolescents with PE scored lower in some psychosocial conditions and quality of life, while the PC group had poorer posture compared to the PE group.
