Summary: The non-precious metal catalyst based on pyrolysed Fe and Co co-doped electrospun carbon nanofibres shows high activity towards the oxygen reduction reaction in alkaline solution, making it suitable for the application at the anion exchange membrane fuel cell cathode. Such high electrocatalytic activity is attributed to the unique CNF structure, high micro-mesoporosity, different nature of nitrogen species, and metal-N-x active centres.
