Effect of Preparation Parameters on the Catalytic Performance of Solid Acid Catalyst SO42-/ZrO2-CeO2 in Biodiesel Production

X. F. Li et al.

Summary: A new solid acid catalyst SZC was prepared by co-precipitation method and used in biodiesel production. The influence of all 10 parameters in the preparation process on the catalytic activities was systematically studied, with important factors identified as loading amounts of CeO2, aging time, and calcination temperature. Novel findings included the impact of ammonia concentration on acid strength and the importance of drying before calcination.

Sulfonic Acid-Functionalized Inorganic Materials as Efficient Catalysts in Various Applications: A Minireview

Maria Luisa Testa et al.

Summary: Sulfonic solid acid materials are a valid alternative to homogeneous mineral acid in acid catalyzed reactions, with a focus on sustainability in industrial processes. Efforts are made to reduce reaction steps and use green solvents, while also addressing the drawback of acid leaching and ensuring easy catalyst recovery. Characterization techniques to identify catalyst structural properties are also important in this research.
