Heterogeneous photocatalysis of triclocarban and triclosan in greywater: a systematic and bibliometric review analysis

Siti nor Hidayah Arifin et al.

Summary: This article reviews the potential of using TiO2 nanotubes for photocatalytic degradation of TCC and TCS in greywater. The results show that TiO2 nanotubes have high efficiency in degrading TCC and TCS, with removal rates ranging from 33% to 99% for TCC and 1.73% to 90% for TCS. Moreover, photocatalytic degradation of TCC and TCS has led to the production of nonhazardous photoproducts.

The type-II n-n inorganic/organic nano-heterojunction of Ti3+ self-doped TiO2 nanorods and conjugated co-polymers for photoelectrochemical water splitting and photocatalytic dye degradation

Nani Gopal Ghosh et al.

Summary: This article reports the synthesis of two organic semiconductors coupled with Ti3+ self-doped TiO2 nanorods to create type-II n-n inorganic/organic nano-heterostructures. These nano-heterostructures not only enhance visible-light absorption but also improve the delocalization and transportation of photogenerated carriers due to advantageous band alignments. The organic semiconductors exhibit better photoelectrochemical performances than Ti3+/TiO2 NRs, with TP1 NHs showing the highest photocatalytic efficiency.

Photoelectrocatalytic degradation of p-chloronitrobenzene by g-C3N4/TiO2 nanotube arrays photoelectrodes under visible light irradiation

Bingrui Ma et al.

Summary: The g-C3N4/TNAs photoelectrodes exhibit excellent visible-light response, efficient charges separation, and high redox potentials of electron/hole, which are favorable for p-CNB degradation. The simultaneous roles of reductive electrons and oxidized species, as well as the dependency on photo-generated holes and center dot OH for mineralization, were crucial during the dechlorination process. The Z-scheme g-C3N4/TNAs provided an efficient approach for simultaneous dechlorination and mineralization of refractory pollutants.

Improving photocatalytic activity by construction of immobilized Z-scheme CdS/Au/TiO2 nanobelt photocatalyst for eliminating norfloxacin from water

Jingying Li et al.

Summary: The immobilized Z-scheme composite photocatalyst CdS/Au/TiO2 NBs was constructed to enhance the photocatalytic activity of TiO2 NBs under solar light irradiation. The higher photocatalytic activity for antibiotic degradation was attributed to increased light absorption and efficient separation of photogenerated electrons and holes. Analysis of reaction products and radicals trapping experiments revealed the photocatalytic mechanism and active species.

Characterization of algal organic matter as precursors for carbonaceous and nitrogenous disinfection byproducts formation: Comparison with natural organic matter

Xi-Xi Wang et al.

Summary: This study analyzed the physicochemical properties, components, and disinfection byproduct formation potentials (DBPFPs) of algal organic matter (AOM) and natural organic matter (NOM) in a typical eutrophic lake. Results showed that AOM had higher organic nitrogen content and exhibited higher DBPFPs, especially for nitrogenous DBPFP. The study also found that the molecular weight distribution between AOM and NOM was similar, but AOM had higher concentrations of building blocks while NOM had higher concentrations of biopolymers and humics (HS).

1T and 2H mixed phase MoS2 nanobelts coupled with Ti3+ self-doped TiO2 nanosheets for enhanced photocatalytic degradation of RhB under visible light

Qian Zhang et al.

Summary: The novel 1T-2H MoS2/TiO2-x composite shows excellent photocatalytic degradation performance due to its 2D heterostructure, Ti3+ and oxygen vacancy defects, and the acceleration of charge transfer by metallic 1T phase MoS2. This composite provides abundant reaction active sites, extends the photoresponse to visible light region, and benefits effective charge separation and transport.

Impacts of Annealing Temperature on Morphological, Optical and Photocatalytic Properties of Gel-Combustion-Derived LaFeO3 Nanoparticles

N. Yahya et al.

Summary: In this study, LaFeO(3) photocatalyst was successfully synthesized using a gel combustion method, with different calcination temperatures impacting its physicochemical properties. Amorphous LaFeO(3) calcined at 400 degrees C showed the best photocatalytic activity, exhibiting higher surface area and reaction rate constant compared to crystalline LaFeO(3) under different calcination temperatures.
