Zinc in depression: From development to treatment: A comparative/ dose response meta-analysis of observational studies and randomized controlled trials

Somaye Yosaee et al.

Summary: This meta-analysis study suggests that zinc status and supplementation have potential benefits for depression. Zinc supplementation can significantly reduce depressive symptom scores, and improvement in depression status only occurs when zinc is prescribed as a monotherapy. In addition, higher levels of zinc intake are associated with a reduced risk of depression.
