Long-term antibacterial properties of a nanostructured titanium alloy surface: An in vitro study

Antifungal versus antibacterial defence of insect wings

Experiments revealed the details of how air entrapment on damselfly wing surfaces prevented fungal spores from crossing, while bacterial cells were able to cross and be ruptured upon attachment. Immersion in water for a week demonstrated the robustness of air entrapment and antifungal behavior, confirming a strict Cassie-Baxter wetting regime.
