Phonon-Assisted Hot Carrier Generation in Plasmonic Semiconductor Systems

Yocefu Hattori et al.

Summary: By adjusting the operating temperature, the hot electron generation and transfer in plasmonic semiconductor materials can be optimized, contrasting with photodriven processes in nonplasmonic systems. This effect appears to be related to an enhancement in hot carrier generation due to phonon coupling. This discovery provides a new strategy for the optimization of photodriven energy production and chemical synthesis.

Enhancing Photoelectrochemical Energy Storage by Large-Area CdS-Coated Nickel Nanoantenna Arrays

Rambabu Yalavarthi et al.

Summary: The integration of nickel nanopillar arrays with CdS thin films has shown to significantly enhance the photoelectrochemical response, achieving broadband light absorption and large photocurrent enhancements. The complex electromagnetic resonances supported by the nanopillars contribute to efficient energy transfer and hot carrier injection, making them promising candidates for photoelectrochemical devices utilizing Earth-abundant raw materials.
