An Investigation into the Antibacterial Properties of Bamboo/Cotton Blended Fabric and Potential Limitations of the Test Method AATCC 147

Muhammad Ali et al.

Summary: Qualitative assessment of blend ratios of bamboo and cotton fibers showed that increasing bamboo fiber content did not significantly enhance antibacterial properties, and even resulted in loss of antibacterial effectiveness. Pile fabric was found to have inferior bacteriostatic properties in the pile area due to lack of contact with the nutrient providing medium for bacterial growth. This finding could be valuable for industries developing antibacterial textiles.

Nanocellulosics: Benign, Sustainable, and Ubiquitous Biomaterials for Water Remediation

Suprakas Sinha Ray et al.

Summary: Water is crucial for all life forms, and access to potable and safe water is essential for defining the standard of living of a nation. However, global water quality is declining due to human activities and other factors, necessitating measures to protect water resources. Bio-derived materials such as nanocellulosics have great potential in wastewater treatment.
