Failure characteristics and stability control technology of dynamic pressure roadway affected by the mining activity: A case study

Jiakun Lv et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the fragment grade of two-side coal mass of DPRAMA in Gaojiapu Coal Mine and analyzed the evolution of rock mass failure through Flac3D software. The research found that DPRAMA is highly stable under static loading, but stress concentration and deformation of surrounding rock increases under dynamic loading. A specific support strategy was proposed based on the findings to alleviate coal mass deformation and a coupling support scheme was designed for DPRAMA.

Assessing support alternatives for longwall gateroads subject to changing stress

Gabriel S. Esterhuizen et al.

Summary: Longwall gateroad entries are affected by stress changes induced by mining activities, which can lead to significant deformation and require various support systems to maintain stability. Research has been conducted to assess the impact of stress changes on ground stability and support alternatives.

Experimental study of deformations and failures of the coal wall in a longwall working face

Maolin Tian et al.

Summary: This paper presents results of physical model experiments studying the deformation and failure process of coal seam in front of a longwall working face, introducing the concept of integrity coefficient to evaluate coal seam failures. Results show that coal seam undergoes a complex fracturing process during face advancement, with fracture types being related to distance from the working face wall.

Stability Analysis and Protection Measures of Large Section Tunnel in Coal Rich Weak Rock Stratum

Guannan Zhou et al.

Summary: This study used the large-scale finite element software ABAQUS to simulate the construction process of a large-section tunnel in weak surrounding rock encountering coal seams. It was found that passing through coal seams led to a sharp increase in displacement and stress. Comparatively, the bench method showed better technical and economic benefits than the CD method.

Field and Numerical Investigation on the Coal Pillar Instability of Gob-Side Entry in Gently Inclined Coal Seam

Xupeng Ta et al.

Summary: In studying the coal pillar stability of gob-side entry in gently inclined coal seam, it was found that uneven horizontal stress was the internal cause of entry asymmetric deformation and failure. In gently inclined coal seam, the rotation movement of the main roof and stress distribution were closely related to inclination of the coal seam. Therefore, a collaborative control technology of roof cutting for pressure relief and support strengthening can help prevent coal pillar damage and disaster occurrence.
