Review on remote sensing methods for landslide detection using machine and deep learning

Amrita Mohan et al.

Summary: Landslide, a critical natural hazard, is caused by specific slope movements due to geological factors. Urbanization and climate change have led to a widespread increase in landslides, prompting the use of modern geospatial technology and machine learning for identification and assessment.

Assessment of historical and future land-use-land-cover changes and their impact on valuation of ecosystem services in Kathmandu Valley, Nepal

Manish Shrestha et al.

Summary: This study assessed the impacts of historical and projected land-use and land-cover changes on ecosystem services values in the Kathmandu Valley. Results showed a decline in ecosystem services values due to urbanization, with a significant loss dominated by the decline in agricultural land and deforestation.

The content and accuracy of the CORINE Land Cover dataset for Norway

Linda Aune-Lundberg et al.

Summary: The comparison between the CORINE Land Cover dataset for Norway for the reference year 2018 and detailed national land cover and land use data showed that in general, the classification complied with the definitions, but discrepancies were found in detailed and marginal classes. Using classification based on statistical profiles can improve the accuracy of the classification.

Future scenarios impact on land use change and habitat quality in Lithuania

Eduardo Gomes et al.

Summary: This study reveals the trends of landscape changes in Lithuania in 2050 by simulating future land use and cover changes under different scenarios and assessing the impacts on habitat quality. Using Cellular Automata method and InVEST model, the analysis shows significant differences in habitat quality under different scenarios, providing important insights for policymakers.

Environmental issues in the coastal regions of the south-eastern Baltic Sea: A sensitive natural environment in the face of increasing anthropic pressures

Sebastien Gadal et al.

Summary: The coastal zones of Latvia, Lithuania, and the Kaliningrad Oblast have seen rapid anthropisation in recent years due to political, social, and economic changes at the end of the Soviet period. The sensitive environment in these regions, previously relatively untouched due to militarisation, is now facing increasing pressures from tourism, industrial development, and urban expansion. This post-soviet anthropisation has environmental impacts that need to be addressed through coastal management policies that balance environmental protection with economic development.
