The usefulness of transanal tube for reducing anastomotic leak in mid rectal cancer: compared to diverting stoma

Seok Hyeon Cho et al.

Summary: The study compared the protective effects of diverting stoma (DS) and transanal tube (TAT) against anastomotic leak (AL) in rectal cancer surgery. TAT showed comparable effectiveness in reducing AL to DS, but DS appeared to be more effective in preventing the need for reoperation.
